Quilts of a Different Color
Hands-on Coloring Workshop by Irena Bluhm

Suitable for All Levels
Learn how easy it is to apply color using colored pencils to a small, already quilted piece, ready for painting. You don’t have to be an artist, just try to paint what you see. Don’t shy away from using bold colors and stark contrast to create a drama. You can learn how to do the shading in order to make your designs look dimensional. It is a lot of fun and very relaxing. Irena feels very passionate about what she is doing and loves sharing her experiences, the good along with the bad, so you don’t have to go through the pain of learning the lessons the hard way like she did.
Kit fee $35, which includes one quilted sample (12”x12”), ready for color application, two sets of 12 colored pencils, one set of six brushes, plastic dispenser cup, 2 oz. textile medium, paper pattern package, CD with all information about the coloring technique, plus another CD with 367 images in color.
The kit fee will be paid directly to the instructor during the workshop.
Appli-felting

Join Barbara in this wonderful technique of appli-felting. Learn to combine appliqué and needle felting and add it to garments. You will create double decker designs by creating three-dimensional appliqués to add to or build on to the garment itself. You’ll learn to embellish with hand embroidery, adding buttons, yarn, hotfit rhinestones too. It’s a great way to get back to the basics in our lives with handwork, practicing with hand embroidery or even learning hand embroidery if you haven’t done it before. The class will also go into detail on making things permanent on your clothing as well.
Supply list: bring scissors, tracing pen (if you have a special appliqué pattern that you would like to dimensionalize and add on to the double decker pattern.)
Kit fee: $35, which includes sweatshirt, needles, foam bases, wool rovings, wool felts, yarns, threads, ribbons, buttons, perle cotton and needle, patterns and more. You can select the shirt from Barbara’s booth.
Have Sleeve Will Travel

Learn how to fit sleeves for a variety of arm shapes and sizes. At the same time, learn how the armhole controls the fit, cap shape, sleeve size and hang of the sleeve. This class will teach you how to adjust a sleeve for more movement along with the various ease amounts, cap shape and hang of the sleeve.
Roman Shade Basics

There are many ways to customize your Romans to make them yours. Join Pam for a lecture/demonstration on Roman Shade construction, including assorted styles, types, and embellishments. You will see flat, hobbled, relaxed, bottoms-up and arch-top of Roman Shades.

Her seminars are lots of fun and educational. You will Learn how easy and how much fun quilting can be with Kaye’s original techniques that assure success and inspire creativity. She designs for both the pointed and the pointless people, so there is something for everyone from the new quilter to the more experienced quilter. She also shares some of the fun things and not so funny things that have happened to her on the road to quilting. Kaye brings lots of her quilts and shares with you step by step exactly how to make these quilts.
Square in a Square

The Square in a Square system is a fast and accurate way to make fantastic quilts without ever having to cut or sew triangles. Within the system are 39 different triangle units or options. Using these options, you can make half square triangles four at a time, flying geese two at a time, 60 degree diamond triangle units and much more. The resulting points are sharp, lie very flat and are easy to achieve. The technique provides the quilter with the ability to construct increasing complex patterns. This cutting system is so simple and accurate that quilters everywhere will be producing more quilts and enjoying it more! No supplies needed for this lecture. Just come, rest your feet and be inspired!

Learn the proper way to cut with scissors, how to hold a rotary cutter, which end of a seam ripper is up, and which iron is best for you. Pam will show some of the latest gizmos, gadgets and gotta-haves for sewing. Beads and silk ribbons make up into a pretty little garden scene with a sweet butterfly kissing the roses. For those beginner/intermediate. You’ll learn basic bead embroidery plus 5-petal flower, 4-bead flowerette, picots, and sequin. Silk ribbon embroidery: daisy, leaf, straight stitch and web rose. Layered Landscapes

Learn fashion industry sewing techniques and shortcuts that will make your sewing more professional, efficient, enjoyable and satisfying. Connie will demonstrate several sewing techniques and interfacings that are used in the fashion industry today. Topics include efficient cutting techniques, selecting interfacings for fashion sewing that do not need pre-shrinking, notching concepts, pin basting, using a gathering foot, crimping vs. ease stitching, bias treatments, spaghetti variations, vest linings, placket techniques, and zipper techniques. This lecture will relieve your fears of the more complicated fashion details.
